To our ancestors teaching right and wrong and building strength of character were even more vital, certainly not less so, than teaching marksmanship, tracking, trapping, needlework, cooking, or planting.

An international accolade is being bestowed on Basil Johnston of Cape Croker, whose honours already include the Order of Ontario, honorary doctorates from the University of Toronto and Laurentian University, an Aboriginal Achievement Award for Heritage and Spirituality and an Anskohk Aboriginal Literary Lifetime Achievement Award.
